We were able to visit with Cal in person for the first time on 11/15. He told us much about how the ministry is going in FCI Thomson. There are many nominally Christian inmates in the prison, but who have not given their lives up fully to Jesus. Many others do not profess Christ at all. There is also a thriving church within FCI, and they had 18 men get baptized on November 3rd. Many of the Christians are in Unit A and Unit H; since the baptism, 3 men have newly professed Christ from unit H.
Unfortunately due to facility regulations on visiting multiple prisoners we were unable to visit Jonathan Darnel while at the prison.
Please continue to pray for opportunities to share the Gospel and good news about Jesus to the prisoners at FCI Thomson, and for the ministry of Cal and the other Christians. Pray for Revival across all the units and ranges–there are 4 “ranges” per unit, each with up to 100 prisoners. Cal is currently in Unit C Range 2.
Pray for men turning to Jesus among each of the many “gangs” or “groups” among the prisoners. At FCI Thomson which is a low-security prison, there is very little prisoner-on-prisoner violence because violent inmates could be sent to much more dangerous medium- or high-security prisoners. But many prisoners self associate with racial or background group like the Hispanics, White Supremacists, Blacks, Nation of Islam (also black men), S.Os (sexual offenders), or the smaller group of J6’rs. Cal is not a member of any of the groups, but believes that Jesus died to save men from all tribes and races. Please pray for revival and men following Jesus from all the groups in the prison.
Pray also for for the Correction Officers (COs) in the facility who see the testimony of the Missionaries and Christians and that they would turn to Christ and trust Him for their salvation.
Updated information on visiting FCI Thomson is also added on the Visits tab of this website.
